LitUp Writers seeks humorous first-person essays about family – stories that involve your family, their quirks, rituals, routines and family bonding. Anything goes as long as it’s related to family. Ideally, we seek pieces that are both funny and personal; stories that reveal something about the author through a humorous lens.

Selected stories will be read, by the authors, before a live audience on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Space Gallery in San Francisco. A mandatory rehearsal will be held on Sunday, November 7, 2010.

Please send all submissions, via e-mail, to litupwriters [at] gmail.com. Submissions must be 1,200 words or less.

Deadline for submissions is Friday, September 17, 2010.

The Lit Up Writers inaugural reading series seeks first-person humor narratives for its upcoming event, “Hello My Name is…” All submissions must address the topic of names, branding and/or identity. This could be about your own name, a time you changed your name, your band’s name, your company’s name or whatever else you name.

Selected pieces will be read aloud on August 20th at Space Gallery. Send us stories that will make us double over, fall off our chair or roar with unmitigated laughter. Essays must be 1,000 words or less, double-spaced and preferably in PDF or MS Word format.

Deadline for Submissions: Friday, July 24, 2009
